Fine dust, a major environmental pollution source, is a phenomenon that has both temporal and spatial dependence, and the use of an appropriate index to check both time series patterns and spatial patterns facilitates analysis of the phenomenon. The local indicator of temporal burstiness (LITB), which can determine the persistence and irregularity of the occurrence of an event, can confirm the time series pattern of each regional unit of the event. This study attempted to compare the patterns of high concentrations of fine dust generation by region using LITB. Fine dust alert data affecting daily life were used. When grasping the pattern of the phenomenon, the difference between the two distributions was confirmed by comparing the distribution of the simple frequency of warning issuance by region and the distribution of LITB. As a result of checking the regional pattern of each item (PM10, PM2.5) alert issuance for the entire period, the explosion pattern of PM10 was relatively weak compared to PM2.5. As a result of checking the distribution of LITB by year, the frequency of both PM10 and PM2.5 dropped sharply in 2020, and the entire Seoul metropolitan area showed a strong burstiness pattern in PM2.5 for the entire year, but there was also a year when warnings were issued in a regular phenomena that are not revealed in the simple frequency distribution can be identified in LITB distribution. This makes it possible to identify the pattern of high-concentration fine dust and suggest a differentiated response plan for each region to solve the problem.
