이 글은 조선산업 도시 사회의 변화를 정동(affects), 느낌, 감정과 같은 비재현적 요소와 글쓰기, 상징, 이미지 등과 같은 재현적 요소의 매개 과정으로 설명하고 있다. 조선산업 도시에서 생산되고 있는 다양한 정동과 감정을 ‘정동적 도시론’으로 고찰했다. 구체적인 분석 사례는 현재 한국의 남해안에 위치한 조선산업 도시에 대한 재현을 중심으로 살폈다. 조선산업의 위기 이후 조선산업 도시에서 생산된 감정과 정동이 무엇이고, 이것이 어떻게 현재의 도시를 구성하는 주요 요소인지를 분석했다. 특히, 이 글에서는 과거 한국의 산업도시에서 형성된 전통적인 노동 공동체가 해체 또는 변형되는 과정에 주목했는데, 이를 근대적인 산업도시 공동체로부터 그 경계를 초과하는 새로운 정동 공동체로의 이동으로 설명하고자 했다. 산업도시 사회에서 발산하고 있는 다양한 정동과 감정들은 단순한 위기의식을 넘어 집합적 정동으로서의 ‘유동하는 공포’와 결합되어 있었다. 이러한 정동적 분위기는 향후 언제든 제기될 수 있는 기업의 구조조정이나 지역정책에 대해 산업도시 사회가 어떻게 대응할 것인지를 가늠할 수 있는 미시적이지만 중요한 참조점이라는 점에서 의미를 부여했다. 결론에서는 산업도시에서 어떤 공간적 정동 정치가 구성되고 있는지도 고민했다.
This article discusses the way in which affects as transpersonal bodily capacities and changes become a invisible part of constituting landscapes, focusing on representations of shipbuilding industry cities. Emphasizing on the fact that affects can mediate and be mediated by apparatuses, encounters and conditions, this paper traces a specific forms in which affective life is imbricated with representations. The questions of this paper is how the various sensory modes of being in the industrial area is imbued with relations of social/geographical power, but is irreducible to power’s effect and how affects and emotions act as part of assemblage constituting and landscaping industrial cities. Especially, it highlights the industrial affective community associated with the liquid fears. By developing the perspective of affective urbanism, this paper can contribute to understand the spacial politics of affect within industrial cities in post-industrial era.
